What does the act of traveling mean to you? What do you stand to gain from packing your bags and booking that trip you’ve had your eye on?
Here are my answers:
Imagine, God created this whole majestic world and if you only dare to set foot in 1% of it, what a travesty that would be.
Not to say you shouldn’t learn to explore and embrace your hometown, please do! But if that is ALL you ever see, will you be okay with that?
What about when you are 95 years old and perhaps you physically aren’t able to travel far anymore, what thoughts will roll through your head then?
And so I say, travel. Travel to your heart’s content. Share the experiences with your loved ones. Use it as a reconnecting experience for you and your significant other. Use it to create memories as a family. Use it to bring a little culture into your lives. Heck, sometimes you can even use it to reconnect with yourself.
However you decide to do it, and whoever you decide to bring along with you… just do it! Get out there. See what the world has to offer.
Have you ever thought,
“What does the sunrise look like on the other side of the world?
…Rising over the Sydney Opera House?
…Over castles in Europe?
…Illuminating the bay in Maine?
…Peeking over a pasture in Texas?”
(The last one I can speak to, it is freeing and empowering all at the same time. Makes you feel like you can do anything with just the pack on your back, dedication in your mind, and adventure in your heart. As long as you’ve got a glass of sweet tea.)
The point of the story is…
While the daily grind of work and keeping up with house maintenance may seem like good reasons to wait, those will all be here when you get back. You have so much to gain from taking a trip and exploring the world! Empower yourself to start living in the moment… Embrace the gift of life.
Talk with your significant other, get the ball rolling. If your finances don’t allow for you to book a trip right now, then review your budget together. There are nearly always ways to cut back to help put a little more in savings each month. Once you have a plan in place, you can officially start dreaming of your next adventure. And before you know it, you’ll be packing your bags for the experience of a lifetime.
Did this post give you a taste of wanderlust? Where would you like to travel? I’d love to know!
